SPECIAL ELECTION DAY IN MISSISSIPPI
NOVEMBER 4, 2025
On July 2, 2024, a panel of 3 Federal judges unanimously held that Mississippi’s Senate map violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting the voting strength of Black voters in the DeSoto County and Hattiesburg areas. The Court also held that Mississippi’s House map flouted the Voting Rights Act by diluting Black voting strength in Chickasaw County. The Court ordered the Mississippi Legislature to adopt 3 new Black majority districts.
